ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Building the Dream” is a initiative aimed at transforming the Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center into a modern community hub that reflects the evolving needs of the South Bend community. With a history spanning five decades, the Dream Center seeks to revitalize the it’s facilities and grounds, creating a dynamic space for growth, education, and inter-generational engagement. Through innovative design and strategic enhancements, the “Build the Dream” project envisions a revitalized Dream Center that continues its legacy of empowerment, fostering connections, and nurturing dreams for generations to come.
HISTORY OF THE MLK CENTER
Since November 11, 1973, the MLK Center has served as a vibrant hub for community growth, learning, and connection. With a legacy of impacting hundreds of families annually, we’re thrilled to commemorate our 50th year of realizing dreams. The Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center stands as a cornerstone on the West Side of South Bend, fostering inter-generational programming for our diverse community.
